Want To Do It Again

You Should Go to Grad School

Grad school definitely isn't for everyone, but it looks like it's for you. You have a pretty good idea of what you want to study - and how it will further your career. So go ahead and go for it! You're ready to be a PhD.

Well, yeah, I had my share of grad school back when I was working. I wouldn't say it was easy, I can't say it was difficult either. Maybe because I didn't try hard enough? That's why I didn't finish it at all. Well, I went to grad school without any aim at all. Just to kill time and meet friends. I achieved both but I didn't really gain a lot of knowledge. It was all a blur. It seems then, I can't relate what I was learning to my work and what I want to do.

But if you're interested in going to law school, that's a very serious thing. You would have done enough lsat prep, as law isn't easy. But, I believe that if you really want to do it.. there's nothing difficult.

First Full Face Transplant

Face transplant boundaries were pushed even further. The first ever full face transplant in 24-hours was done in Spain. In these days and age, everything seem possible. I'm not really a fan of modern technology and idea but this is one of the them that I am so grateful for.
A TEAM of surgeons has carried out the world's first full-face transplant on a young Spanish farmer unable to breathe or eat on his own since accidentally shooting himself in the face five years ago.
It was the most extensive operation yet and the 11th known face transplant worldwide.

During the 24-hour surgery, doctors lifted an entire face, including jaw, nose, cheekbones, muscles, teeth and eyelids, and placed it masklike onto the man, Dr. Joan Pere Barret told The Associated Press.

Transplant experts hailed the surgery, carried out late last month at Barcelona's Vall d'Hebron Hospital, as a significant advance.

I'm a sceptic but when everything is used for the good, I'm all for it. Congratulations to the medical teams. Hopefully, there are more medical wonders that Mesothelioma lawyers job won't be that difficult anymore - that's what we need a breakthrough in the asbestos caused disease.

That's Me

You Are a Basic T-shirt

You are a very humble, low maintenance person. You find contentment easily.

You are easy-going and very social. You like being around other people more than anything else. Some may accuse you of being lazy, but you just don't work any harder than you need to. You are happiest when things are kept casual. You think formality is a lot of unnecessary fuss.

I like T-shirts but I don't own plenty of them. Maybe, I need to start buying them before I can own them. Lol. It's just that I don't really need them for work and weekends do not always require T-shirts unless I'm staying home and read conjugated linoleic acid or have an exercise. Oh well, I need balance in my wardrobe though and I want to achieve that in the future.

Good News

for cancer patients. Mesothelioma treatment (vaccine) might be on the way.

Experimental vaccine shows early promise against mesothelioma
Friday 5 March 2010
A vaccine against mesothelioma, a cancer associated with exposure to asbestos, has shown early promise in its first clinical trial.

The experimental vaccine is an example of dendritic cell (DC)-based immunotherapy, in which the body's own immune system is harnessed to target and destroy cancer cells.

In the vaccine, a sample of the patient's 'dendritic' immune cells are mixed with proteins taken from their tumour.

When implanted back into the patient, these cells can then activate other elements of the patient's immune system, known as T-cells, and encourage them to attack and destroy the tumour.

Researchers at Erasmus Medical Center in The Netherlands have previously shown that DC vaccines bring about an anti-tumour response in mice and decided to test the technique in humans.

They enrolled ten people who had recently been diagnosed with a form of mesothelioma called 'malignant pleural' mesothelioma, and who had been previously treated with chemotherapy.

The team took a sample of dendritic cells from each patient's blood, and exposed them to proteins from their tumours.

The dendritic cell samples were also exposed to a 'marker' protein called keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH).

I'm not really equip as to the history of this type of cancer but it seems prevalent these days. It's funny how the success of the past affects the lives of the people in the future. You can never tell or know.

Rock and Republic's Alayna

There are those who wear jewellery on the ankles and toes. How would you like your shoes to have jewellery on them so you don't have to put extra on.

I saw these Alayna shoes over in shoeblog.com. I like them - simple enough yet elegant. I would buy a pair if we are not saving up for some R&R (no Orlando vacation this time).

Alayna in Black
Nappa Leather Pump with Chain Detail
100% Leather

YET, on second thoughts they're too high that I wouldn't be able to walk on them. Lol.

I Still Like Flats

The weather is getting colder. I should be looking out for boots or any type of shoes that cover my toes and ankles. But nah, I like flats and I'm still checking out some (like I'm reading Clinicallix reviews).

Flats are always my favourite but I also admit that I have to enhance my height so I've been avoiding them. But I don't say that I have to stop admiring and wishing them.

Aren't these gorgeous? They're zensu available in ozsale.co.au.

Are you Red-dy?

Been online window shopping again and my mood is inclined more on red dresses. I own a few red clothes but not really dress - mini or maxi. I'm on the lookout though but I have to buy it at the shops as I would want to try it on. Everyone had different body shapes and some dressed are cut for a specific shape which most of the time, is not mine. How sad is that? Maybe, I get to find one when I'm about to consider womens diet pills - which is likely not to happen.

Anyway, here are some that I admire.

Weekend Reflections

This is at the dam infront of the property where we live. The water is murky but it's quite high as it has been raining. Everytime my little boy and I go for a walk, we always have to stop by the dam to throw some rocks. Sometimes there are ducks swimming. There are trees around the dam. We always have a fear that my toddler will one day wander around and end up at the bottom of the dam - it's not that big but it is around 16 meters deep. That's why we educate him a lot the danger of water (like we are doing an energy auditor training). You can never be too careful with water and kids.

I Want To Hold Your Hand

I have to admit that I haven't heard this song before (I'm not really into music before but trying these days as my other half likes music). I have to check youtube to listen to it.

Anyway, here's my answer
1. What do you notice about other people's hands?
Length of their nails. When I was an idealistic single woman, the first thing that attracted me most to a man is the state of his hands.

2. If someone was nosing around your house, what would you hope they wouldn't see?
Everything? Lol. It's in a state of dis-array right now as everyone is busy with chorese other than those concerned the house.

3. Do you think that the more stuff you own enhances your life or adds to your burden?
I'd like to believe yes, but I would be hypocrite as I also own stuff out of a whim.

4. What was the last movie you saw in the theatre?
Ice Age 3... a long time ago.

5. What do you have under your bed?
Cobwebs (and used golf balls that my little boy rolled under it). Lol. My bed is too low to the floor that I can't put anything under it and it makes it impossible to clean properly.

6. What do you think your s/o or best friend would say about what makes you unique?
Fearless and brave.

7. What's your current favorite TV commercial?
Qantas Airline. It always touches my heart - makes me teary eyed, I don't know why.

8. Who do you owe a phone call to?
Lots of friends and relatives. I lead a busy life that I only depend on SMS and emails to communicate.

9. Do you know about my friend's new meme Wednesday Wickedness?
I'd like to try but I can't promise. I seldom post meme on weekdays. :)

Printed Kids Shoes

Shopping for a little boy is sometimes no fun. I mean, I want to buy colourful and pretty printed clothes or shoes - something like heart, flower, butterfly. I'm too old for that but I like them and I just wish I can buy one for my kiddo. I wish.

Yesterday, we were looking at sweaters and jumpers at the shops and I was so attracted to little girls'. We asked our boy and he said yes. He doesn't give a hoot what we buy him but we don't have people to mis-understand him. He's been mistaken for a little girl since he was a baby. So, I opted to buy colourful jackets instead. I'm happy about that.

Today, I've been looking at cute shoes (while trying to read something for diets for quick weight loss). Lookie here:

Butterfly Inspired

I was at shoeblog.com again today. Boy, I love visiting that site. I like the post about butterflies and I thought, I'd post some of the shoes that I like.

Seychelles Joan $95 at Piperline
Aruna Seth black butterfly peep toe shoes

D&G Dolce & Gabbana closed toe butterfly pumps
I'm not really adventurous with shoes but I couldn't stop to admire colourful and uniquely-designed shoes. They are just not boring. I would not be boring with my style of shoes if I have dresses and bags and accessories to match them. It wouldn't be as difficult as trying phentermine to buy shoes if also have heaps of surplus in my pocket. lol. For now, I'll still to what I got.

Food Trip Friday - 0417

When I was fairly new here, I was really amazed how much meat people in my Husband's family eat. Everyday and several times in some days. It's new to me. I'm more of a veggie/fish person. But now that I've lived here for quite some time, I'm cathing on in the meat-eating department. I'm a big time carnivore. Red meat, white meat. I know, it has it's cons (maybe including eczema) but sometimes, it's just too good to resist. Just like these steaks.

This one is rump steak and very well done.

This one is broad (I'm not sure if I'm right) steak. Not well done. Grizzly.

She's Got Legs

STEP ASIDE
She's got legs! Jennifer Aniston happily flashes her famous gams on Wednesday while arriving on the Santa Monica, Calif., set of her latest film, Just Go With It.

I'm planning to have a haircut next weekend and I thought, I'd want something like Jennifer's. All I know is it's layered - I hope the hairdresser can pull it off. It will be a major make-over for me for almost 5 years and the first time to have layered cut.. so many firsts (except trying best fat burning supplement). I'm excited about it but why am I putting it off till then? Because I just had a 10 bucks haircut and I want to last it for at least 2 weeks. Lol.

New Laptop Bag

I was issued of a new laptop - well, not exactly but better than what I was using. It's the machine that one of the dev guys was using but they got new desktop. The bosses thought that it's better than laptops. It's 17" and heavy but performs nicely and it has windows 7. My boss said that I should have a trolley to carry it with. Yeah, because the bag is always half as heavy as the machine. So I bought a new one yesterday from Strandbag. It's actually not for 17" but it's so hard to find a bag that will fit it in our area. I settled for the bag for 15" and I'll just slot it in the middle. Maybe, I could find a nice sleeve soon when I finished the auto insurance quotes assignment. The new bag is very light on its own. I'm not a purple person but I thought, I'd want something not black.

Monticello

I've been keeping up to date again with shoes what-nots so I headed to shoeblog.com and saw the first entry about Monticello shoes. Here are some that I heart - colours and design.

I probably could use the slingbacks as they are not quite exy (plus we've cancelled our healthplans - no not theBlue Cross Blue Shield NC) though, I'm just looking for something with an inch or an inch and a half heels.

Ixora Variety

We were at Bunnings last Sunday and Mcj checked out their garden supplies. I couldn't resist not to take photos of all types of flowers. There are heaps. We didn't cover everything but I got lots of photos. I always feel nice and happy when I'm with flowers although I am hopeless in propagating them. It feels fresh and you can't smell the smokes of electronic cigarette.

These are ixora yellow and red variants. It's suntan in the Philippines.

Fish in a Tank

When we are at the shops, we seldom skip going to the pet store. It has become an exciting place for us especially with a toddler in tow. We we found great gifts for moms here and for animal-lovers. One time, Mcj wanted to buy the little boy a cat but I strongly objected. We couldn't possibly have another one to look after to. Owning a pet is not a walk in the park but I'm sure animal lovers out there will say, it's all worth it.

Planing or Driving?

Driving for sure.

Although this may say something about me that's true, I candidly say I like driving especially when I am not the driver. After our experience going to Sydney and driving for almost 14 hours with 3 stops - driving with a toddler is enjoyable. It beats the hassle of looking for cheap car insurance, no schedule to follow, packing as much as you can fit in the car, the luxury of not packing at all if you don't have enough time and travelling in your own pace.

Depending on the circumstances but if it's possible, I'd like driving.

You Should Travel By Airplane

While you may not like the stress and chaos of flying, there's something peaceful about being up in the air. You cherish your time on a flight once everything calms down, and you especially like flying at night. You have a real yen for traveling, and you want to see as much of the world as possible. You're all about the whirlwind, round-the-world tour ... and only flying in a plane can give you that.

Bunny and Alice

We went to checkout if the bank was open the Saturday before last but it wasn't so we just hang around at the shops. In the middle of one of the alleys, there was this big setup with Bunny Rabbit and Alice. People pay for a photo taken with their child - I don't know how much as I didn't bother as the Little Boy wasn't interested anyway. I just took some photos but look, the light is really not good as part of the setup had sunlight - I thought they could use outdoor lighting. I couldn't take a decent one and wondered if the photographer managed to get good shots with partial sunlight.

Clogs and Loafers

Can you hear the cluckers now? My son would call it clip-claps. Yeah, anything will do to label the sound clogs make. Well, according to shoeblog.com, it's coming back this Spring in the USA. I wonder if it's going to be that in Down Under. I might take out my pair soon not for graduation though but for just staying home making graduation announcements. Hummm.

I can't resist not to post about these loafers that I saw from shoeblog.com. They're unwearable of course but it seems so apt for the name. Well, it's April and we start the month by fooling everyone around.

Ralph

I gave my friend a hug and I couldn't resist to comment on her smell. It was nice. She showed me her perfume. It was Raplh and I sprayed it on my wrist and I liked it. Now, it's on my shopping list if I strike good daily deals.
Ralph by Ralph Lauren is a natural, classic, trendy fragrance which
can be used for everyday as well as evening wear. It is long lasting
