Well Spent

The luggage that I was using when to-ing and fro-ing before were already so worn-out that we intend to buy some. I’ve been eyeing a set in the online shop but haven’t decided if I want them. I was not really sure to buy them as well for stuff that you want to use for long needs to be of good quality and you can only assure that if you see the product.

Then, we went to the shops almost a month ago. We passed the bag shop and I thought of buying the most elusive laptop bag ever. I saw one and as usual not sure if that was what I really want. But Mcj saw the luggage set and decided the buy it. I was not so keen as it was almost 40% dearer than what I saw online – they are Qantas brand not Rimowa. We bought it anyway. Then that week I was told that I will be going to Melbourne. Thank goodness, we bought the luggage, I have something to use. It was my business first trip in this job. It was money well spent.

Mr Imedific

The Tatapilla is taking on from Mummy on the shoes department. He got an Imeldific genes in him. Did I mention that he owned seven pairs of shoes? At least 4 of them are getting difficult to put on so we bought him another pair last Sunday. A slip-on pair which he loves. He has to wear them almost all the time that he’s awake. (Oh, I have to take photos of him wearing them – just using our al-cheapo camera, haven’t bought the much sought Canon camera
yet).

It’s been a while since I last update this page. Busy. Busy. Busy. A lame excuse but true. Been to Melbourne for two days for work and when I came back, more work has to be done. But the shop-aholic in me had struck again. Been to shops last weekend which we enjoyed as a family as we bought everybody something (no weight loss pills of course).

Anyway, I’m back. Alive and kicking but I can’t promise that I will be updating this page often like I used to.

A Jen Fan

I used not to be a fan of Jennifer Anniston but I'm a convert now. I think because I like watching friends and I like here there - all of them actually.

I buy magazines that Jennifer is in, I read articles that she's in, I read anything about her. I'm not really fanatic but, I just like her. That's all.

Anyway, read this today in yahoo lifestyle:

While Jennifer Aniston went into coy mode when Ellen DeGeneres pressed her on the topic of John Mayer, the five-time Grammy winner himself was only too happy to discuss life and times with Aniston, in an interview to air Monday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

And neither he nor DeGeneres was particularly shy about certain private details.

"Do you sleep over?" the TV host asks bluntly.

"Yeah, there are sleepovers, yeah," Mayer replies, prompting a "Wow" out of DeGeneres.

"Yes," Mayer repeats, "yes, there are."

"You have sleepovers," says DeGeneres. "That's cute."

One more time, Mayer says: "Yes, there are. There are sleepovers."

Inside Aniston's House
What prompted the discussion was DeGeneres and Mayer's recounting their both having been to Aniston's housewarming party for her new hi-tech residence.

As described by Mayer, "There is no normal thing in the Aniston house. You won't find a light switch. The light switch is not antiquated - there is a six-button light panel. It does everything. The top button is 'on,' and the button right below that one seems to be an air horn, so in the middle of the night it's very difficult."

Mayer also admits it's all a bit too much. "I just want a switch that glows orange. Just give me a switch that glows orange, and I can swing my arm up [and turn on the light]. I don't want a smart-home button."

I'ved been looking up for Jen's website but haven't found it yet. I always stumble on diet pills site which I don't really need. Anybody who can share it with me?

Should Recession Means less shoes?

This according to Carrie Bradshow character:

So how would the iconic Sex and the City character handle today's economic woes? Sarah Jessica Parker opines to Harper's Bazaar, "She would probably end up in a hospital. Perhaps she would go back to her '80s stuff and start bringing it out again."

As for the March cover girl, her own take on the recession is a bit less dramatic. "I know so many people who have lost jobs, are losing jobs, husbands who have lost jobs. I can't imagine going shopping." But that said, Parker does allow that "I don't have the Carrie Bradshaw passion and devotion to it, but I would much prefer that life would allow for a beautiful shoe all day long."

As for Bradshaw's legendary wardrobe, the actress, who maintains a very un-Carrie-like home ("Friends are readily disappointed by the size of my closet."), she enthuses, "I got to wear such incredible things, and you make such mistakes and there's such hits and great triumphs and there's incredible wrong, wrong, wrong ... But it's so much fun."

I don't have 80s stuff? Oh, maybe I'll just not give out my old shoes or those that I don't plan on wearing at all. Humm, just a thought.

Oh well, there are other things to think about other than shoes. There's the Oak trees. And what is that? I haven't seen any of it yet.

On Insurance and Travel

I'm well under way with the preparation for our long awaited trip back to the Philippines. We have an itenirary now. I've made up list of what to take with us, what to organise and bought some pressies.

The flights were all taken cared of last year. Mcj got us a travel insurance good for 22 days last week. I reckon it was a good deal for what it covers. Next in line will be booking for our accomodation when we're not staying in my parents's place.

I want to rave with the new deal Mcj got for our health insurance. We reckon, we were paying much before for our family insurance. Mcj, on one of those early mornings that he got up, shop around for cheaper insurance with almost the same cover. He found one where we can save at least 40% of what we were paying. I thought he would go along with it but without my knowing, he went to our current provider and might have negotiated and they lower down our premiums of at least 37 bucks a month. Not much really but multiply it to year after year of us paying for it and it will sum up to heaps.

Makes me think that maybe, I also need to buy term life insurance. I haven't got any. Though it doesnt worry me at all. :)
